Digital Marketing, Public Engagement, and Government Relations for Solar4All

In 2016, Cycle7 Communications principal Andy Kubrin volunteered on a campaign called Solar4All, whose purpose was to modernize Alberta’s solar energy market. The campaign relied on the synergy of its two key components:
- public engagement to educate Albertans about the extraordinary potential of solar energy in the province
- citizen lobbying to persuade the Alberta government to modernize and liberalize Alberta’s solar energy market
Andy’s contributions included:
- campaign design
- website development
- copywriting
- volunteer management
- public engagement
- government relations
Working around the province, Solar4All garnered:
- 2,879 signed postcards
- 1,566 signatures on hard copy petitions
- 3,511 signatures on online petition
The campaign also held 20 meetings with Alberta legislators to discuss Solar4All’s preferred policy options. Solar4All helped persuade the Alberta government to:
- modify the Micro-Generation Regulation
- introduce Property-Assessed Clean Energy,
- introduce the Alberta Indigenous Solar Program,
- introduce the Community Generation Program
- extend the On-Farm Solar Photovoltaics (PV) Program.
These results helped democratize Alberta’s electricity market, placing the benefits of solar energy in the hands of individual Albertans and their communities.
