What We Do Together
1️⃣ Clarify your impact themes
We start by asking:
- What kinds of change matter most right now?
- Which programs best illustrate that change?
- Which audiences would benefit from your impact stories?
You receive a short impact focus and audience personas you can use in campaigns, reports, and conversations.
2️⃣ Make storytelling ethical and consent‑driven
We embed ethical, trauma‑informed, and consent‑first practices in every step.
- Informed consent, not just signatures. We explain how, where, and why stories may be used, for how long, and what the possible risks are. Participation is always voluntary, services never depend on saying yes, and story owners can choose how they’re identified—from full name and photo to partial or full anonymity—with real options to revise or withdraw consent, within clear practical limits once materials are public.
- Story owner review. Story owners have multiple chances to review and correct their story before it goes public, so they keep control of how they’re represented.
- Dignity and emotional safety. We reject voyeurism and “trauma porn,” use trauma‑informed interviewing, avoid pressure or leading questions, and emphasize people’s agency, context, and community impact.
- Documented consent. We use clear, plain‑language consent documentation your organization can keep on file and adapt for future storytelling.
3️⃣ Collect human stories
We conduct a small number of structured interviews with participants, families, staff, and volunteers. Each conversation focuses on “before, during, and after,” so every story clearly shows what is different now.
You receive three to five short, polished story profiles plus a quote bank you can draw on for appeals, reports, and social posts.
4️⃣ Add simple, believable data
We surface a few numbers that support those stories, using data you already have or can easily collect, such as:
For example:
- How many people took part.
- How many returned or stayed engaged.
- How many report feeling more confident, connected, or supported.
We package this into a concise “Impact at a Glance” section you can reuse in reports, decks, and on your site.
5️⃣ Conduct collaborative story review with story owners
We conduct a collaborative review with every story owner. Every participant reviews and edits their own story, chooses how identifiable they are, and gives final approval before we share their story. This process protects participants from harm and gives you stories that are truthful, nuanced, and trustworthy.
6️⃣ Create reusable assets
You get:
- An Impact Stories PDF or slide deck.
- Web copy sections you can drop directly into your site.
- Language you can use for grant applications and reports.
- A content calendar to put those assets to use.
- Simple guidance for collecting one new story and one new proof point each month, so your assets keep growing.
In addition, you receive reusable tools to keep future storytelling ethical and consent‑driven:
- Storytelling ethics & consent protocol (1–2 pages, customized for your organization).
- Participant information sheet template (plain‑language, editable).
- Storytelling consent form template with options for anonymity, levels of visibility, and revocation.
- Interviewer consent script and trauma‑informed interview checklist.
- Optional staff training and documentation (in print, on video, or both) so you can show funders and partners how you handle consent and care.
Why This Is Different
- Grounded in values. We don’t manufacture feel‑good stories. We surface real experiences that reflect your mission and protect the people you serve.
- Sized for small teams. We keep interviews and data collection focused so your staff can participate without overload.
- Multi‑purpose. We create story versions you can use to support fundraising, advocacy, recruitment, and internal morale. Use our stories to tell your team how much their work matters.
